As you will see on this page, Paisley was an all-around talented boxer. I handled her in performance activities and my husband in the conformation ring. In UKC Paisley achieved the title of Grand Show Champion and also won a Best in Show and a Reserve Best in Show. In AKC she won Best Veteran three times attesting to her excellent conditioning as she aged.
Paisley earned her Canine Good Citizen title, the gold standard for dog behavior, by passing a 10 step testing process proving her to be a well-mannered dog not only at home but also in public. Additionally, she learned necessary skills to go hiking in the wilderness and she and I often hiked on the trails in Galena and Dubuque.
Further, she achieved the level of CD, Companion Dog, in UKC Obedience competition as well as the title of RN, Rally Novice, in Rally Obedience competition. When she passed, quite suddenly, she was working on her Advanced Rally title. Her passing was very difficult for me but I finally came to terms with it and can at last look back at all that my husband and I accomplished with her. We loved her dearly and she will always have a special place in our hearts.
In 2012 Paisley began training to compete in AKC Obedience and on March 31st competed in her first obedience trial at Clinton IA KC. Her score of 188.5 earned her 2nd place. Paisley went on to complete her Beginner Novice AKC Obedience title earning her 2nd qualifying leg with a score of 189 at the Heart of Iowa KC on April 28th and her final qualifying leg with a score of 193 at the obedience trial at Scott County on May 12th.
Upon completion of her Beginner Novice Obedience Title she began preparing for her next level of obedience competition. Her highlight on the way to her CD was at the Cedar Valley Boxer Club obedience trial on 8/30/2012 in Amana, IA, where she won HIGH IN TRIAL. With that honor came a performance plaque from the American Boxer Club, a beautifully handcrafted boxer wind chime and a huge rosette ribbon!!! Paisley went on to achieve her CD 2 days later.
Paisley also competed in Rally Obedience and achieved her AKC Rally Novice title in August and September 2009 at rally trials held by Tree Towns, Boxer Club, MidWest Boxer Club and Rockford-Freeport KC.
On 4/14/12 Paisley successfully passed her Canine Good Citizen Test and was subsequently awarded the title of CGC by AKC.
Multi-talented as she was, on 6/14/12 Paisley also competed in Conformation at the Great Lakes Boxer Club Specialty at the UKC Premier in Kalamazoo, MI. She performed beautifully and won the Grand Champion class. What an excellent accomplishment for a 5 1/2 year old boxer!!!
Paisley finished the 2008 year as the #6 ranked UKC boxer in America earning a Best in Show and a Reserve Best in Show along the way.
In Paisley's spare time in the summer she went hiking on the trails in the Galena Territory where she lived. She completed a 5-week hiking class where she learned how to carry a backpack loaded with her hiking supplies and how to navigate hilly, rocky trails. There were 7 dogs in her class who all learned to respect each others space and enjoy peaceful time with their owners in nature.
